Kye Bay Beach Walk

I had a couple of hours to myself on Saturday afternoon and thought that I’d walk from Kye Bay through to Air Force Beach and back. It didn’t take too long and the tide was low so I had plenty of beach and tidepools to explore.

In the middle there’s a long gravel bar that stretches a long way out into the Strait of Georgia and if you go out far enough it feels like you’re in the middle of the ocean—just watch the tide and wear rubber boots! Few people were out on the flats and it was mostly just gulls, a few shorebirds and myself out near the water’s edge.

I found a few interesting creatures in the rocky section between the two beaches, but weather and time prevented me from spending too much time poking around. It was great just to get out and enjoy the beach even on such a gray day.
