Located in Strathcona Provincial Park, Lake Beautiful is an aptly named hiking destination. It takes a bit of effort to get to the lake but it is well worth the long hike and on a hot day the swimming is fantastic.
From the trail head at Paradise Meadows the total hiking distance is approximately 18km depending on the route you take. It is possible to do a circular loop via the Kwai Lake backcountry campsite and to extend your hike to the Cruikshank Canyon lookout just beyond Lake Beautiful. All in all it is a wonderful destination for a full day hike and a great opportunity to explore part of Forbidden Plateau that is a little beyond the reach of most day hikers. See the Forbidden Plateau map for more details.
