During the dull gray days of November and December in the Pacific Northwest it is always a treat to get a sunny day. This week we’ve been fortunate with a string of clear (but cold) days and the sunsets and sunrises have been magnificent. The Courtenay estuary is a good place to watch the colour of the evening sky reflected on the surface of the water.
This series of sunset images was taken at the Courtenay Estuary, an estuary that is designated as an Important Bird Area. As the sun went down, large flocks of Canada geese flew overhead to joint the countless ducks and gulls that were already settling in for the night on the calm water of the bay.
And while the sun was going down, the full moon was coming up.
And so ends another beautiful day in the Comox Valley.
